Film Review Research
On Film Review Research I am going to be looking intensely into how a review is structured and looking at what has to be done in-order for it to be classified as a film review. In addition I will be looking at the layout of the review as well as the style of writing and whether it would differ depending on the genre of film or whether it would remain the same in style. Furthermore I be using the gathered detail to help me when I will be creating a movie review of my own.
Layout
For the Layout of magazine review you are presented with a big title at the top telling the reader what this film is from in this case this movie is In cinemas now so it is presenting what the movie is about and whether they think it will be good for the readers to go and watch in the cinema. We are also presented with a big-bolded quote given about the film, it gives the audience a further insight to what it may be like, In this case they have insinuated that the movie isn’t much of a horror but more of a ghost story. Furthermore we are also presented with a large image which covers almost the majority of the pages for where the interview is. This could be like this so that we can we potentially a vital part of the movie which may be a facial expression etc. This may also be like this to show us into what the author of the review maybe trying explain to us thought the review. In addition there is a bolded out in a bright yellow colour box which tells us what we should watch out for when watching the movie and gives us a slight insight into the movie as well us some facts about the movie itself which we may have not known before.

In the first shot you see Liam Hemsworth at the door with a sweat patch on his chest. However in the second shot which was taken 5 seconds later and in the same time frame in the movie the patch is gone which shows a continuity issue in the production process of the movie.
What you need for a good review

In order to have a successful review on an movie you have to be able to connect with any one for whom is going to be reading the review for instance if you are writing an review on a Horror movie you want to display the reader with a hard hitting first sentence so that they will be hooked and so that they will want to keep reading the review. Some may say that writing notes during the movie isn't a good thing however if you write your opinion in the review however do not back it up with a strong reference or evidence from the movie itself. For example if I were to complain that the continuity of the movie doesn't flow well as when 'Liam Hemsworth ' came to apologies to 'Miley Cyrus' and she slammed the door in his face he was sweating from his arm pits and neck however when roughly 1-2 minutes later the dad opened the door once again he was completely dry. Having evidence such as this may keep the viewer interested but also shows the readers that you know what your doing and that you can possibly spot issues that avid movie watchers may not.
Types of Movie Reviews
There are many different styles of reviews for example you have, Magazine reviews in magazines such as Empire. You also can fine Movie reviews in newspapers such as The Sun, The Guardian and The Independent. Further more you can now also find reviews in the form of a video on YouTube, there you have an amateur or professional movie critic talking about the movie. These types of movies may vary depending on the movie but also the type of literature or video it is in. For example Newspaper movie reviews tend to be created by professionals, and tend to be shorter and more straight to the point. However, magazine movie reviews tend to be more in-depth and also depict more issues found in the movie or what they likes and in-addition they also talk more about the production process and post production which gives the reader a better idea of the whole creation of the movie/product as well as the movie itself. On the other hand a video review talks more about their experience watching the movie and how they felt during the film, this gives a potential watcher of the movie a greater idea of what they could expect when going into watching the movie. In-addition due to the video review being technological they sometimes implement clips from the movie which could ultimately be a massive spoiler alert for the potential viewer.

Film Magazine
This is the film review in the medium of a magazine. The magazine will be displayed below with annotations to show for it. There are three pages in the magazine that show the summary of the film, front cover and pictures about the film.

The shows the title of the film with detailed graphics to grab the audience's attention
I made sure to include a picture from the film and colours that stand out as much as possible. The change in colour contrast is eye catching which may intrigue the audience to find out more.
The front cover also included a quote form the film. This not only connects with the audience but the significance of the phrase has a deeper meaning of violence and death.

The second page of the magazine presents a short summary of the storyline to our short film. It explains the most important detail in separates paragraphs to make it easier for the audience to read.

Also, the layout of the front cover was a made is best possible sequence for the reader to make sense of it. I included our media production logo along with a review made by a an audience member who gave me feedback.
I also included a link to our website so that the audience can check out further information about the film so that they get a better understanding.
