This low budget is due to the fact that most short film makers are independent and are funding these films by themselves. Due to such little advertising short films usually break even and hardly ever make a profit. Most short films are created with basic equipment and mobile phones as they don't have the funding to buy other equipment. Most of the props used in short films are handmade as they don't want to use what little budget they have on props so they make do with what they've got. Short films always have a small cast and a couple of locations due to the fact that they can’t pay for actors so they get people they know to do them a favour and the film typically last between 5-40 minutes. Feature length films have a big budget so they can afford to spend money on advertising, props, cast members and professional equipment. This big budget is due to the fact that Feature length films are mostly made by global conglomerate companies who synergies with other global conglomerate companies which covers most of their advertising. Feature length films have a big budget so they can afford professional equipment which is why their films are high quality. Feature length films always have a massive cast and a variety of locations due to the fact that their film is usually between 90-120 minutes.

 

Audience

 

Short films have a niche audience as they are made with a particular group in mind.  Short films also have a niche audience as they are distributed differently, to view them you have to search them up or go to a film festival. Feature length films have a mass audience as their genres are broader. Feature length films are distributed differently as you can watch them on Netflix, in the cinema and stream them.
